Census Mapping Project
HistoryForge Census Mapping Project
The Oberlin Heritage Center is partnering with HistoryForge, an interactive web environment which uses census records and historic maps, to explore the history of Oberlin in 1910 and 1940. As of July 2021, nearly all of the data from 1910 has been posted. Data entry and review for 1940 is in progress. For a full research experience, be sure to play around with the Field, Filter, and Map It options to sort through the information.

Notes:
- At this time, it is better to view this program from a desktop computer.
- In some census years college students were recorded at their home residences, not in Oberlin.
- While we tried to enter the data as it was recorded on the original census sheets, we know that sometimes the census is incorrect. If you have suggested edits or notes, please email director@oberlinheritage.org.
