How to Do History Workshop Series – You Only Have a Death Announcement. What Now? (Genealogy) (with the Lorain County Historical Society)
Saturday, May 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Elyria Public Library (Main Branch)

Starting with limited information from a death announcement, professional genealogist Deborah Abbott, PhD, will demonstrate how asking the right questions can open the door to identifying and determining which records are needed to uncover the unknown facts of a relative’s life. She will emphasize the importance of locating and carefully analyzing documents, understanding how one record leads to another, and building a fuller picture from the smallest clues. Attendees will gain practical strategies for approaching genealogical roadblocks and learn how to follow evidence trails with confidence and curiosity.
