Oberlin Chalk Walk

Oberlin Chalk Walk Returns for the 18th Year! Saturday, June 27, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
(Rain Date – Sunday, June 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Oberlin’s most colorful event is on Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (rain date is Sunday, June 28). This event is free and open to the public. Volunteers will be on hand at registration tables throughout Downtown Oberlin to provide free chalk and materials. There is no advance registration for this event. This is a family-friendly event, so visitors of all ages are encouraged to add their own artwork to the sidewalk gallery. For families with young children, OberlinKids will host a more sheltered chalking area and additional kids’ activities in the East College Street courtyard behind Slow Train Café. Featured artists sponsored by the Allen Memorial Art Museum for this year’s event are Wendy Mahon, Héctor Castęllanos, Debra Sue Solecki, and Robin VanLear. Juried artists include Beth Wolosz, Amanda Mitchell, Consuelo Deus, and Jessica Fisher

Even if you can’t engage your inner artist, come downtown to view creativity in action. Take a leisurely stroll (be sure to take photos!), enjoy a meal or a snack at one of Oberlin’s local restaurants, visit the town’s unique retail shops, and be amazed by what people can create from a few sticks of chalk and a sidewalk square. Oberlin Chalk Walk is a collaborative event organized by Allen Memorial Art Museum, the City of Oberlin, Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA), Oberlin Business Partnership (OBP), Oberlin Heritage Center, OberlinKids, and Oberlin Public Library.  Additional sponsors for Chalk Walk include Aladdin’s Eatery, Ben Franklin Store, Oberlin Cable Co-op, Kendal at Oberlin, Oberlin College, and Friends of the Oberlin Public Library.
