Root Beer & Yesteryear
Saturday, September 20 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Step back in time with friends and family and enjoy a fun afternoon of curiosities, old-fashioned treats, timeless games, and mementos of Oberlin’s past. All activities and treats are free!
Enjoy:
- Root beer floats and popcorn
- Back to School exhibit about the Oberlin public schools
- Step-on trolley tours of town approximately every 30 minutes
- Old-fashioned yard games
Demonstrations:
- Vintage bicycles with a representative of the Ohio Wheelmen
- Magic lantern shows with Heath Patten, Visual Resources Collection Curator of Oberlin College Libraries (1:30, 2:30, 3:30) Curious what magic lantern even is? Come and find out!
- Lorain County Spinners and Weavers Guild
- Lorain County Beekeepers Association
- OCircus!
Don’t worry if it’s raining – we’ll still have the indoor activities, snacks, and trolley tours.
Refreshing root beer will be generously provided by Oberlin IGA, ice cream will be provided by Oberlin Drug Mart, and the trolley is provided by the Lorain County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Thank you also to the Oberlin Athletic Boosters Club for their popcorn machine.
